Emerald Coast Golf Tour Summer Championship Teeing Off in Montgomery

Montgomery, Ala. – The Emerald Coast Golf Tour’s Summer Championship tournament will be held this week in Montgomery, July 20-22, 2011 at Arrowhead Country Club. A Pro-Am event will take place on Wednesday, July 20th followed by the 54-hole tournament ending on the 22nd. 

 

This tour features talented golfers who later become members of the Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA). Some of the past alumni include Joe Durant, Boo Weekley, Heath Slocum, Bubba Watson and George McNeil just to name a few.  Matthew Swan, former Trinity School and University of Alabama standout, will return to defend his championship title.

 

In addition to showcasing the best in the sport, the Emerald Coast Golf Tour will graciously give back to the Montgomery community. A free junior clinic will be held on Thursday, July 21st at 4:30 p.m. to promote the development of junior golf in our area.  The young aspiring golfers will be coached on the basic fundamentals of the game.

 

Entry fee for the Pro-Am is $95 and includes a kickoff party on Tuesday night at the Texas Roadhouse, lunch on Wednesday along with an awards party and prizes.  Amateurs interested in playing in the Pro-Am can contact Rod Dyer at Arrowhead Country Club at 334-272-7180.

 

Schedule:

  • Tuesday, July 19th – Pro – Am Kickoff party – Texas Roadhouse

 

  • Wednesday, July 20th – Pro-Am – Arrowhead Country Club – 12:30 p.m. shotgun start. Pro-Am awards party at club following play.

 

            First round of play for professionals in 54-hole event.    

                      

  • Thursday, July 21st – Second round of play for Pros – Arrowhead Country Club

 

            Junior Clinic at 4:30 p.m. for kids on driving range – Arrowhead Country Club

 

  • Friday, July 22nd ­– Final Round of play at Arrowhead Country Club for professionals. The Award presentation will follow play in the Clubhouse.
