FOR MORE MEDIA INFORMATION: Hampstead and Chef Jon Sanchez Bring Upscale Farm-to-Table Concept to the River Region MONTGOMERY, Ala. – April 30, 2010 – With spring harvesting in full swing, the Town of Hampstead is pleased to unveil its newest restaurant, Ham and High on April 30, 2010. Situated in the heart of the community’s thriving Town Center on Hampstead High Street, Ham and High’s ever-evolving dinner menu focuses on seasonal, sustainable and local cuisine with slight southern influences to delight even the most discriminating palates. Centered around a farm-to-table food philosophy with a nod to the region’s agricultural heritage,Ham and High offers only the freshest meat and produce sourced from local farmers and artisans or on-site at Hampstead Farms. The three-acre, urban farm regularly supplies the destination restaurant with an array of fresh produce and herbs, ranging from heirloom tomatoes and okra, to rosemary and honey, while the traditional farmhouse doubles as a unique venue for organic cooking and gardening demonstrations, weddings and community gatherings. “The respect and care for the foods’ integrity is the key to ‘farm fresh’ fare,” said Jon Sanchez, chef at Ham and High. “Our team is committed to using only the freshest ingredients available, preferably locally, and allowing the beautiful, inherent flavors to come through on each plate. If we don’t grow it ourselves at Hampstead Farms, we will look to the rich locale to create cuisine that is sophisticated yet familiar.” Ham and High is open for dinner Tuesday through Saturday starting at 5 p.m. Thoughtful menu items change daily and range from starters such as the Cast-Iron Seared Scallops and Grits, Ham and High Charcuterie Plate and Bacon-Wrapped Georgia Quail, to entrees including Pan Roasted Trigger Fish, Alabama Stout Braised Beef Cheeks and the Ham and High Market Vegetable Plate. Patrons looking to satisfy their sweet tooth indulge in the Trio of House-Made Sorbet, Ham and High Artisanal Cheese Plate, or Zucchini Bread – one of Sanchez’s secret family recipes – to name a few. An exceptional cocktail and wine list, boasting prominent selections such as Gustavo Thrace ‘03 Cabernet Sauvignon and the Hendry Ranch Estate Pinot Gris ‘05, provides a more spirited indulgence for connoisseurs and recreational consumers alike. Located adjacent to the restaurant, the Ham and High Market will soon offer a convenient stop for the community, complete with an array of wine, meat, fresh farm produce, cheese, honey and other specialty items. Reservations are strongly recommended and are now being accepted for opening weekend.
