Woman-focused seminar to be held at Riverwalk Stadium on March 4, 2011
Montgomery, Alabama- February 17, 2011—Ladies First today announced that its inaugural
seminar event will be held at Riverwalk Stadium, in Montgomery, Alabama on March 4, 2011.
Ladies First is a daylong seminar for women. With the objective of empowering women in
today’s stress-filled environment, Ladies First is a fast-paced day of sharing, shopping, and
learning. Ladies First is the brainchild of Sherrie Myers, owner of the Montgomery Biscuits and
Virginia Whitfield of Whitfield Foods.
“Ladies First is unlike any other seminar”, said Sherrie Myers. “While other seminars will
import celebrities who have no idea how to relate to local women, Ladies First is not a one-sizefits-
all approach. We created this event because we believe women in today’s world need to
share issues and understand their needs and concerns with other woman who really understand
them”.
The event includes the founders delivering an interactive program design based on attendees’
indicated priorities. Speaking in the opening session will be Sherrie Myers and Virginia
Whitfield. Smaller breakout sessions will feature other speakers with expertise in topics
including career, family, finance, relationships, beauty and wellness and fashion and figure.
These “everyday ladies” range from vice presidents of major corporations to a judge and a wellknown
pediatrician.
The March 4th event will be held at Riverwalk Stadium. The ballpark, home to the Montgomery
Biscuits, will be transformed into an indoor venue with seating limited to just 300 for this oneof-
a-kind event. The day runs from 9am-4pm with lunch, access to all speakers and shopping
boutique, goodie bag and 2 free drink tickets for optional social hour, all included for $67.
Ladies First was created in response to the feedback from women of all ages as the founders
worked in the region and delivered keynote speeches and workshops. “It became clear that
women who went to a networking functions or association meetings, were left wanting more
specifics and needed more input”, said Virginia Whitfield. “We started spending time
identifying the common issues we were hearing and brought in another woman we worked with
to think through relevance for all women, as the three of us represent three generations of
perspective.
“As an Alabamian and a native of Montgomery, I have seen over the years that women need this
kind of gathering where they can feel connected, heard, pampered and appreciated. I am proud to
be able to help share the lessons I’ve learned over my lifetime to encourage women to be their
very best.”
Local sponsors have rallied around the forum as it empowers and encourages the same everyday
women that are integral parts of their business success. Sponsors for the Montgomery event
include: Alfa Insurance, Alabama Power, Baptist Health and Jackson Thornton. Many
businesses are encouraging female employees to take the Friday off to attend and discuss ways to
enhance their work performance.
“Alfa is honored to be part of the Ladies First program,” said Carol Golsan, Alfa Insurance
Senior Vice President of Marketing Services. “As leaders in their homes, communities and
business, women are the backbone of society. These responsibilities, however, can be stressful.
Ladies First helps equip women for success by providing training and encouragement in the
areas of career, finance and wellness. At Alfa, women excel as agents, adjusters, underwriters
and in management positions – all while balancing their duties as wives, mothers, daughters and
community volunteers. We are proud to work with Ladies First to help Alfa’s female employees
– and all women – be healthier, happier and more successful.”
The first event for Ladies First will launch in Montgomery, Alabama on March 4, 2011 and will
continue on to other cities across the country this year. Tickets are limited and already half sold,
and available for purchase online at www.ladiesfirstonline.net.
