UPCOMING HISTORY TOURS WITH MARY ANN NEELEY |

MONTGOMERY, Ala.--Local historian Mary Ann Neeley, the retired director of Old Alabama Town, is offering guided walking tours of Montgomery history sites this fall. Each tour costs $5 for ages 12 and older, and is free to members of the Landmarks Foundation. All proceeds benefit Landmarks, a non- profit organization committed to perserving central Alabama history and culture. Tour Schedule: September 26, 9:30 a.m. Rivers, Rails and Rights Tour—Commencing from the entrance to the Commerce Street tunnel, this tour will include sites along the Alabama river and railway, highlighting their connection to the Civil Rights Movement. Historian Richard Bailey will help lead this tour. October 4 and November 1, 2 p.m. Oakwood Cemetery Tour—Meet inside the front gate of the cemetery on Wetumpka Road for a glimpse into the lives of some of Montgomery's most interesting former residents. November 8 Mystery Tour—More clues, including meeting time and location, will be revealed to all who register for this history mystery tour. All tours last approximately two hours and are on foot. Participants should bring their own bottled water and wear comfortable walking shoes and seasonal clothing.
